Clean Sections Resume Freebie

Clean Sections Resume Freebie Clean Sections Resume Freebie When a traditional vertical resume will look like every other resume an employer will review, it is time to stay traditional and simple, but also to change up that format into a more horizontal look. This professional resume provides clear and simple section divisions that will make it an easy read for reviewers and yet highlight all of your background and skills in a wonderfully organized way. This design can be downloaded and edited through MS Word, and you can “play” with it as much as you want. Add a photo, for example. One word of advice. The template shows a section for “Objective.” Be very mindful as you craft this section of your resume. You may want to talk about your personal career goals, but this is a big mistake. Your objective must relate to providing value to the organization and its needs, not your needs. This is a mistake that many candidates make, and it is a “turn-off” to employers. They want to see what you can bring to them, not how they can help yo u. Of course, you have your own goals and objectives. Your resume is just not the place to talk about them.Download this free template and see how you will be able to showcase yourself! Resume Writing Tips For The College Student

Resume Writing Tips For The College StudentThe first rule of resume writing is to not do it with too much black or white, or do it with too little of any color. There is a strong possibility that you will confuse the reader, as they try to remember whether you are employed in corporate America or not.Resume fonts are very important and must be selected carefully. Many people think that because a particular font has a large number of characters, the resume is easier to read. This is actually not true, as the larger the font, the more difficult it is to read.Resume fonts should be based on the type of background of the writer. A commercial graphic designer, whose resume is going to be designed by a professional company, should be careful not to use too many characters. It may look good, but the quality of the resume is at risk.Sometimes the size of the font size is considered by many people to be an important factor. Yet, the size of the font in a resume does not necessarily influence its reader's ability to read it. An important factor is the letter height. If your resume is less than five inches tall, it is considered acceptable. In the case of a brochure, a specific piece of art that has the potential to be read by thousands of people at the same time, it is important to have a unique font size. Using a larger font size means it is easier to see and read a smaller piece of paper. If it has been printed out, the size is saved in the computer and is available for use.Resume writing can be accomplished by software, but it is important to have some idea of what the formatting will be before entering the information into the program. If you are not satisfied with the formatting of the program, you can change it in the computer. Also, if you are not satisfied with the fonts, change them yourself. It may be possible to get a new font for free at some website. Not only do small business owners have to work in a certain amount of time, they must also ensure that the resu mes and cover letters are read by the correct readers. When the resume is sent out, it should reach the correct readers who are in charge of the hiring process. Their job is to make the hiring decision. It is a question of research and experience, as many applicants simply put together their resumes without the knowledge of how the formatting should be. The careful research and experience are the key. The person who writes the resume should know the exact font size and style that should be used for each section of the resume.

How to balance natural and synthetic happiness at work - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

How to balance natural and synthetic happiness at work - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog This article was written by Tais Lyager Rasmussen and Woohoo inc?s newest employee Thomas Christensen. In a previous blog post we explored the concept of synthetic happiness at work and how it can be a powerful tool to relieve the stress of having to achieve. In this post, we will explore more deeply how synthetic happiness or personal happiness might be a sorely needed way of thinking in society today. To recap the previous article: Synthetic happiness is what you make when you do not get what you want. This is in contrast to natural happiness that is when you get what you want. Synthetic happiness is just as real and genuine as natural happiness. Having many choices is great for natural happiness but bad for synthetic happiness because choices hinders the internal validation process that occurs when you are ?stuck? with something. This means that natural happiness, being reliant and influenced primarily on external forces and validation, can safely be called external happiness. Synthetic happiness in contrast, can be labelled as internal happiness as it is reliant and influenced primarily by internal validation. We ended on the idea that the relationship between the two could be a driver behind overall happiness. This article will explore how difficult it can be to navigate in a world skewed towards external happiness. In today?s society, there have never been more opportunities available than there is now. The possibilities in what career you can pursue, hobbies you can take up, clothe you can wear, TV-shows you can watch and the list goes on. All of these options provide you with the opportunity to design and create whatever life you want. However, this large amount of possibilities ends up becoming a problem as you might experience choice overload. Choice overload is when an individual?s decision-making process is hampered by too many options. When a decision has too many alternatives, it becomes so complex that it is impossible to rationally evaluate every option against each other. When this happens, people become overwhelmed and might chose not to choose at all. This can lead to stress and potential regret from believing that you have chosen the wrong option. When we combine the idea of internal happiness with choice overload, you get a society where individuals? decision-making processes are being sabotaged by the number of options they have. This results in potential stress and regret but it is also a terrible foundation for internal happiness.?As proposed earlier, choice is good for external happiness but bad for internal happiness. How do you train yourself to appreciate internal happiness in a world geared towards highlighting external happiness??How can you make yourself be happy where you are right now, when everywhere you look you are expected to grow, to surpass, to go somewhere and buy something; in short use the endless possibilities there exist. Social media is generally a wonderful thing, but it can be easy to look at other peoples? adventures and consider them missed opportunities for you. It is natural and intrinsic to human nature to compare ourselves to other people, but what is really happening is that you are comparing yourself to a highly stylized ideal presented through a media of your choice, not an actual person. This is also true in work situations where the idea of growth is ingrained in the way we think of ourselves in the workspace. In a performance culture, you are compared to other people and the benchmarks of other people. Your own contributions are rarely seen in comparison to yourself, they are most likely seen in comparison to your coworkers or company benchmarks. This could rob you of the ability to be satisfied with your own work. With all of that in mind, here are 4 tips for living in an environment skewed towards external happiness 1. When contributing to a shared project at work, or anywhere else, you should not continuously compare your efforts with other contributors. Instead, you should focus on the work you have contributed with and compare with your own previous work. 2. A small dosage of nostalgia is advantageous. Try to key significant memories to items, this adds value to them, and makes you less likely to feel the need to replace them. 3. Try always placing yourself in a situation where you do not have the possibility to change your choices. This will initiate the internal validation process and act as a catalyst for internal happiness. 4. Be critical of the notion that happiness is getting what you want. The world might be geared for external happiness but at the end of the day happiness is a perceived experience, and whether it comes from getting what you want or enjoying what you get, it is still reliant on each individual?s own perception. The difference is that learning to like what you get is much more stable than getting what you want, as it does not rely on external forces for validation. Do A Career Tuneup Annually to Maintain a Positive Path

Do A Career Tuneup Annually to Maintain a Positive Path If you are fortunate enough to have a fulfilling career, you can probably distinctly recall the challenges you faced getting to where you are. Youre probably not interested in going through those again! Heres the key to avoiding future career challenges: maintenance. We don’t often think about the maintenance of our career but, just like anything else in life, we need to. We need to check-in on our career regularly to make sure that it continues to fulfill us even as our life, priorities and the work itself change. Aligning your career with what you want to do can be hard work. Trust me, I know. Even as a career coach and business owner, I have to be very intentional about continuing to align my career with the skills I want to be using and doing the things I am interested in. We continue to evolve over time and the work we are doing can evolve and head in directions we didn’t anticipate. My job is pretty stable right now. Why wouldnt it stay that way? For example, new projects and new opportunities can cause a shift in the work we are doing on a day-to-day basis. Over time, small shifts, or shifts on a project-to-project basis can cause a significant change in the way we feel about the work we are doing. It can cause a conflict with how we want to spend our time. Additionally, we experience life changes, shifting priorities, and even changes to what we value in our lives and careers. The fulfilling career we once had is now less so. How do I maintain my career and prevent this from happening? It’s important to continue to evaluate what we want to be doing and how we want to be doing it over the course of our career. It’s regular maintenance for your career. We need to do regular check-ins or conduct regular evaluations. This will allow us to make small shifts or small changes to keep us on track before our career gets too far out of alignment. One of my clients calls this her ‘career tune-up’. She sets an appointment to see me every six months to make sure her work is still on track with her goals. She’s decided to take small steps on a regular basis, hoping to avoid a larger pitfall. Life is busy. We have so many competing priorities as it is. However, I strongly encourage you to schedule regular career check-ins or tune-ups with yourself. How do I conduct a career tune-up and make it a habit? Get it on the calendar First, get it on the calendar. Make it an immovable meeting. We tend to be quick to reschedule things that can nourish or feed our soul or better our lives in order to do things that seem more important in the short-term. Determine your evaluation criteria Second, identify how you are going to evaluate your career. There are many ways to conduct this career check-in. The most important aspect is that the questions you ask or the way you choose to evaluate your career are important metrics for you personally. Set action items Most importantly, determine the actions you need to take in order to reach the metrics you set for yourself. The actions dont need to be dramatic but you cant ignore them. The great thing about maintenance is that it isnt hard and, hopefully, prevents having to make dramatic changes. There is no right or wrong way to structure your career check-ins. Here are some examples: Evaluate your career goals and see what type of progress you are making toward those goals and what might need to shift. Review the skills you want to be utilizing in your career and see how many of those skills you get to use and at what frequency. What seems in alignment or out of alignment? Review your core values, see if any have shifted and how your career is currently matching those values. Revisit your life mission statement and see if your career is in alignment with that mission. Look at your list of 3 words for the year and see how you are adjusting your life and career to incorporate those three words. Use this time to evaluate any skills gaps you might have toward the next step in your career and develop an action plan around them. There are so many possible ways to evaluate your career that are meaningful to you. The hardest step is often just making the time. Make this investment in yourself. Take some time each year to make sure you are on the path you want. This pro-active approach should lead to much more rewarding and fulfilling career and life.
